Formerly known as L’Olive, the Korean restaurant set just across Paris Mosque is now called la Table d'Hami – to honor the new chef and her delicious dishes. Don’t trust the ordinary façade; with its clean inside worthy of an Edward Hopper painting, La Table d’Hami takes you on a journey through the narrow streets of Seoul or to the Busan port, looking for new flavors and zen-ness.
Greeted by Hami’s and Jean’s big smiles, we sit in this lovely blue, white and green canteen for a tasty journey we won’t’ forget anytime soon.
The house specialties: bibimbaps (especially the squid bibimbap, rather spicy, and the vegetarian bibimbap absolutely mind-blowing), the timeless (but delicious) pan-fried mandous, beef or pork Ssambap, Bulgogi (Korean pancake plain or with spicy Kimchi cabbage), or the delicious Chapchae served as a starter or main course.
No doubt, Hami’s dishes are each more delicious and subtle than the other. Sending chili peppers and spicy condiments to the background, it promotes the delicate flavors of cooked vegetables and marinated meats – and our taste buds are happy with that!
To go along our feast, we go for the Korean Hite beer and small glasses of Soju, as recommended by the house. What a change of scenery.
And while our yet hearty plates are emptier than empty, we go for the lovely dessert menu: sesame, yuja, green tea or ginger ice cream (each is delicious and surprising), as well as the traditional rice cake and black bean (served with red berry and goji berry juice), green tea or yuja cakes – served with a scoop of ice cream of your choice.
Here, you can say you’re as delighted as you’re full. A little aloe vera tea comes to close this gustatory travel. We leave La Table d’Hami feeling like we ate healthy, but we also feel like we’ve left Paris for a few hours.
This is a very tasty address we’d like to keep secret so much we love how quiet the place is and how warmly we’re welcome. But since we only really appreciate what we share, we finally decided to share this Korean haven of peace in Paris… Safe travels with Hami and Jean!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
