Rae’s is the type of restaurant you want to make part of your daily routine. Not only do they have a chic and luxurious decor, but also gourmet menu that will satisfy all kinds of cravings and appetites. If you have a palate for quality products and love trying new things, you will love the small plates created daily by Japanese house chef, Masahide Ikuta. We absolutely love it!
You can start with a dozen oysters (tender as can be) and a delicious Ceviche Mixto, leche de tigre and sweet potatoes - with just the right amount of spice, subtle and seasoned with citrus fruits.
For lunch, Rae’s offers fixed menu deals, with an appetizer + main dish at 28€, and an appetizer + main dish + dessert at 34€. These prices are a great deal, considering that the quality of these dishes. When we visited, we could choose between the Cotriade stew and pommes fondantes (potatoes that melt in your mouth) with saffron and broccoli, a farm-raised pork, French peas and mint, creamy polenta and grilled supreme of rooster, corn mousseline, harissa, and green-leaf salad.
The à la carte options are also tempting: Kumamoto oysters, saffron fregula, crab claws, lemon and watercress, salmon gravlax, and gremolata. There’s no way to try it all in one sitting, so we’re planning to go back to taste some more of these mouthwatering plates!
It was love at first bite and the setting has us sold; this is the perfect place for a business lunch or a meal with friends or loved ones. Now, let’s move on to the desserts! The white chocolate, pistachio and strawberry gariguette Semifredo gets our vote! It was so good, we could have easily gone back for a second one.
There’s no doubt about it, at Rae’s you could order from their menu with your eyes closed and still have an amazing experience. The products are fresh and sourced from artisan producers, prepared with creative recipes. The servers at Rae’s are attentive and the atmosphere is pleasant, so there’s nothing more to do than enjoy the succulent meal in front of you. This new spot is sure to become a favorite for the people working in the Sentier neighborhood (and others!)
