Truffle, truffle, truffle. It makes our heads spin and our taste buds sing. It enhances dishes, spices them up… in short, we love truffle. It’s perfect since, after fulfilling our taste buds at the BHV Marais, and making La Grande Epicerie de Paris fans happy, Artisan de la Truffe is conquering Montmartre. It has just opened a new address full of flavors, rue des Martyrs. Not testing this address would make it a martyr…
We walk in and truffle is in the air. It’s normal since behind the delicatessen corner at the entrance, we discover an open-plan kitchen where truffled wonders are already being prepared.
A backdrop halfway between smart and design yet very welcoming sets the tone. Far from the stiff atmosphere and the delusions of grandeur, Artisan de la Truffe breaks the rules and works hard generalizing this mushroom rhyming with luxury dishes.
So, on the menu, we discover dishes exclusively made of truffle. There’s no surprise for Artisan de la Truffe. But, prices are surprising. It’s affordable, very affordable. For the trouble taken, we would expect small portions. Certainly not! Truffle is here, omnipresent and in the heart of dishes. It’s generously served.
To start this tasting, you should go for Tartines croque en sel, a very simple starter. These bread slices are covered in truffle butter and topped with truffle shavings awakening our senses, taste and appetite.
If you’re already in Holidays mode and would like a foretaste of the Christmas Eve dinner that is just around the corner, we strongly advise you to taste the duck or goose foie gras with truffle (6%) that you can eat on your own or share with your special someone.
Regarding mains, a choice is hard, and yet, it would be a shame to miss Burger de l’Artisan. A fresh artisanal bun, a Black Angus beef burger, stewed red onions… what a treat! And what about truffle? Omnipresent, as usual. Summer truffle seasons the soft gouda cheese. On top, fresh and seasonal truffle shavings and as side dishes, truffle chips to make foodies more than happy.
And if you want a generous dish, don’t miss the tortellini with truffle with fresh truffle shavings, as usual. In terms of sauce, the choice is yours: a smooth parmesan cream or a strong tomato creamy sauce with truffle.
For desserts, you can keep on truffle lane with La Truffe de l’Artisan. This time, no truffle, but a beautiful optical illusion. A vanilla ice cream scoop covered in chocolate crumble looking like a truffle that has been just picked up. A nice and fresh note, that is sweet enough to end this meal.
