Pont-Neuf is, of course, one of the capital's most famous bridges, but it's also the name of a very special type of French fry shop. And it's now the name of Paris' first French fry shop. Located in the 10th arrondissement, the ultra-punchy district that welcomes a large number of new restaurants every year, Pont-Neuf - La Frite Française is the work of Semaest, as part of the Vital'Quartier commercial revitalization scheme.
The aim of this scheme? To encourage the maintenance, development and diversification of local businesses in certain Parisian neighborhoods where the commercial fabric has deteriorated or is under threat. And it's true that there aren't many real French fry shops in Paris!
At Pont-Neuf, everything is 100% homemade. On the menu:authentic fresh French fries, made with potatoes selected from a responsible Normandy producer, prepared according to the rules of the art, cooked in quality beef fat and accompanied by simple, natural, good home-made products and home-made sauces. Choose from mayonnaise, andalouse, piment d'Espelette, béarnaise, ketchup, fresh herb sauce and a surprising black mayonnaise with dry ink!
Among the sides on offer: real Paris ham in chiffonade, thin slices of pastrami, crispy poultry aiguillettes (all made in the famous butcher Olivier Metzger), grey shrimp croquettes, Fish & Chips-style fish fritters or a seasonal salad.
And every month, Pont-Neuf offers two ready-made dishes to accompany your fries, one of which is a simmered meat. This month: heirloom tomatoes-smoked mozzarella-arugula and lamb with sweet spices-aubergines-mint.
Pont-Neuf, the perfect place to (re)discover what a good, authentic French fry is all about!
