The Théâtre Edouard VII has opened its doors to a brand new restaurant. Its name? Froufrou. Designed by Moma Group and replacing the historical Café Guitry, this place remains above all the Café du Théâtre Edouard VII.
A real place of life, artists and spectators can parade there throughout the day. A timeless place, Froufrou is inspired by the lightness and carefree spirit of Old Paris and boasts a sumptuous décor designed by the talented French designer Alexis Mabille.
" Froufrou is a place of pleasure and culture, the restaurant-bar of the Théâtre Edouard VII itself located in the Parisian district that welcomed the Tout-Paris from the 19th century .Froufrou is also two places of life: an elegant and friendly restaurant - an allusion to the theater and its tradition of sharing between audience and artists - and in its den, in the basement, a bar that will intoxicate us late into the night in a cosmopolitan decor mixing eras and styles," says Alexis Mabille.
As part of the deconfinement, Froufrou is only bringing out a few tables on the terrace and remains closed inside. It is advisable to reserve at 01.47.42.92.55.
As for the stoves, they have been entrusted to one of the most talented chefs of his generation: Chef Juan Arbelaez, who is now at the head of several restaurants including the now famous Yaya, but also Plantxa, Levain, Vida and Maya.
For Froufrou, he proposes a convivial, gourmet and generous cuisine, and has thus imagined a French-style " sharing". For maximum conviviality, the large dishes to be shared are placed in the center of the table and replace the individual plates.
On the menu? Marrow bones, lean ceviche, or razor clams with herb butter as a starter, followed by truffled coquillettes from the chef's childhood, but also a shoulder of lamb confit or a whole roasted monkfish. Sweet tooths won't be able to resist the imposing Millefeuille to share, or the chocolate cream sublimated by its Kalios olive oil or the lemon baba and Colombian rum.
You want more? Head to the basement at 11:30 pm to enjoy the " speakeasy " style Cancan Froufrou bar . What's special about it? From Wednesday to Sunday, after the shows or dinner, this cocktail bar goes into " cabaret " mode and offers burlesque shows to go back in time.
In short, one piece of advice, run to discover Froufrou!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
