On the charming Place des Vosges, Le Pavillon de La Reine, a 5* hotel, hides behind a lovely shady garden that you'd never suspect behind number 28.
With 56 rooms and suites, it's one of those magical little places in Paris.
Although tourists and well-informed Parisians were already aware of its existence, this address still lacked a restaurant to attract more people. Now it's here.
Welcome to Restaurant Anne!
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, in the "library" lounge, it welcomes you in a warm and intimate setting.
Numerous books, including works by Victor Hugo (who lived on the Place des Vosges), adorn the room.
Take a seat in one of the comfortable armchairs and appreciate the peacefulness of the place, with its few tables and lovely view over the garden!
You don't feel like you're in Paris at all, but rather in the countryside.
The surprise continues in the kitchen. Chef Mathieu Pacaud has designed a menu that celebrates French gastronomy, but with a modern twist! The menu remains short, and evolves according to the seasons and the chef's inspiration, of course! At the helm of the kitchen is young, talented chef Edouard Chouteau, who cut his teeth at such top names as Le Bristol, Pierre Gagnaire and L'Arpège. He brilliantly executes the dishes devised by chef Mathieu Pacaud and sublimates the products sourced from the best producers.
Starters include pan-fried scallops with golden caviar, Jerusalem artichokes and buckwheat in iodine consommé (45€), sure to surprise, or if you prefer, poached duck foie gras, quince jelly and green apple with Sauternes (39€).
For the main course, wild turbot in celery truffle leaf, traditional beurre blanc (65€), rack of Lozère milk-fed lamb, black garlic gratin, parsnip dauphine (45), which we present to you cooked on its hay before carving, or fillet of beef contise à la moelle, soufflé potatoes, Geneva sauce (65€).
To finish, you have a Mont d'Or with truffles, or if you prefer a sweet note, the chocolate soufflé (18€ )!
The combinations are astonishingly delicious, and the cooking and seasoning are perfect!
Gourmet pleasure is guaranteed.
You can choose dishes à la carte, but there's also a tasting menu with a starter, two courses and a dessert at 105€, and if you're a truffle enthusiast, there's a menu dedicated to truffles at 150€.
To accompany these tasty dishes, a fine wine list. Gabrielle Vizzanova, an expert in the field, scours several vineyards each year to unearth little nuggets that are a perfect match for the restaurant's gastronomic menu.
The staff are attentive and friendly.
From start to finish, you'll be lulled to sleep, punctuated by lovely little touches.
As the first rays of sunshine arrive, you can take advantage of the few tables set up in the garden, and listen to the birdsong and harpists on the Place des Vosges. A moment of tranquility guaranteed!
Restaurant Anne is one of those exceptional little addresses where you can spend an exceptional moment in peace and quiet, and enjoy a top-class meal.
