It’s an opera event in September in Paris. La Traviata is performed from September 12 to October 16, 2019 at the Opéra Garnier, directed by Michele Mariotto or Carlo Montanaro.
This three-act opera has been presented at the Fenice in Venice based on a libretto by Francesco Mario Piave and based on Alexandre Dumas son’s novel “La Dame aux camélias”. We discover Violetta Valéry, a courtesan who takes pleasure in “perversion” (Traviata) by distracting herself in luxury and pleasures to forget about the terrible disease threatening her days. She falls in live with Alfredo Germont, a young man who accepts her life and manages to make her change by taking her out of Paris. Excluding that a few months later, Alfredo breaks up with Violetta who resumes her lifestyle, squandering her money and ending up ruined in an empty flat…
Le Meurice legend says that the hotel welcomed in the 1840's Marie Duplessis' lovers - who is no other than the one who inspired Alexandre Dumas Fils for his famous novel. Le Meurice is inspired by the return of La Traviata at Paris Opéra to provide an immersion in Violetta's universe with a custom-made offer for all lyrical theater lovers.
This offer includes a stay - based on a premium suite - a bottle of champagne, two optima tickets including the program. We extend our night at the Opéra GArnier - set a stone's throw, by discovering La Traviata by Simon Stone and performed by two rising stars of the lyrical scene: soprano Pretty Yende and tenor Benjamin Bernheim. We finish the offer the day after with a sumptuous breakfast served at Le Meurice Alain Ducasse. There are still 2 dates available: Saturday September 21 and Friday October 4.
At the same time, discover from October 12 to 16 a menu inspired by La Traviata and served at Le Dali. Chefs Jocelyn Herland and Cédric Grolet came up with a menu in 3 acts with Venetian accents.
On the menu:
Bellini or mocktail served with three appetizers: Fresh and good products mixing exceptional ham and artichokes can be expected.
Stuffed baby squids Venetian style: baby squids perfectly cooked and deliciously stuffed, so good.
Veal medallion à la plancha, seasonal vegetable carnival: an unparalleled and smooth dish with crunchy and soft vegetables served with a wonderful jus, we love it.
Violetta by Cédric Grolet: The dessert by the World’s Best Pastry Chef 2018 is a direct reference to Marie Duplessis’s favorite flower who inspired Alexandre Dumas for Violetta Valéry. A creation that tastes and looks like a violet. Light, sophisticated and incredibly fresh, this dessert is a true delight.
In other words, to live La Traviata in an idyllic way or simply enjoy a temporary menu that is worth the detour, you know where to go.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
