Ladurée, temple of Ispahan and Macrons, pastries based on meringue and egg whites, also provides a “Capsule Vegan” in addition to the on-site food offer.
The vegan capsule comes to complete a menu that already includes vegetarian products and offers, all year long, 3 vegan dishes renewed every season.
When we came, the dishes highlighted by chef Matthew Kenney were Malibu Mezze: betteroot hummus, eggplant caviar, piquillos cream and crackers – Salade Venice Beach: lentil salad, butternut squash, avocado, plant-based cheese – Daube Californienne: jack fruit and stewed vegetables.
A hearty and tasty salad, slightly seasoned with lemon, harissa dressing served aside to spice things up for an explosion of flavors in the mouth.
Barbecue sauce-marinated jack fruit looks like meat, it’s impressive and even the texture of the fruit seems the same.
Biggest foodies will finish their meal on a sweet note with a vegan chocolate cake.
Note that Ladurée isn’t a vegan restaurant and the offer may frustrate some diehard fans because of how many (tasty) non-vegan products there are, but it’s a good alternative not to say no and go out with friends for dinner or lunch if you’re vegan.
Moreover, more and more people pay attention and tend to lower their amount of animal proteins to find their balance.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
