Le Coq de Bougival is the name of the successor restaurant to Chez Clément, which long ago (since 1860) was a famous restaurant called Le Coq Hardi. Le Coq de Bougival thus pays tribute to the history of the place, which has seen many celebrities in its time, in the hope of restoring its letters of nobility.
We're off to discover this beautiful, spacious, multi-space residence for a family meal. The restaurant has been transformed. Farewell to the yellowed walls, left in their original state, and we're greeted by a modern, contemporary decor.
You'll be captivated by the large central chandelier, overgrown with ivy. And we're drawn to the velvet banquette and cosy armchairs.
At Le Coq de Bougival, different areas on different levels, some of which can be privatized for your events (birthdays, weddings, seminars), are open to you.
With the added bonus of a spacious terrace, it's sure to be a delight on sunny days. From romantic or family dinners to business lunches, the restaurant is large and adaptable enough to cater for all tastes.
At Le Coq de Bougival, chef David Cheleman offers traditional bourgeois cuisine. As you'll have gathered, we're sticking with history here, with good old-fashioned dishes made with fresh, seasonal produce. On our visit, we discovered starters such as Tuna Tartare with Watermelon, Foie Gras Terrine and Fresh Pea Velouté with Green Apple. Frogs' leg lovers will also find something to their liking.
Dishes include lobster risotto, pan-fried duck tartar with foie gras, poultry supreme with morel mushrooms, and simple beef fillet with home fries.
Of course, no meal is complete without a good dessert. Let yourself be seduced by the excellent Baba au rhum, which you can measure out yourself, the fresh pineapple velouté with speculos for a light finish, or the exotic Pavlova with crunchy red berries.
In short, if you're looking for a place full of charm, with authentic, gourmet, home-cooked food, and all at a reasonable price for the quality, this is the place for you!
