For several years now, the French have had their wallets at half-mast, and many of them are looking foraffordable places to treat themselves without having to break their PEL. In the Colonel Fabien district, not far from the Canal Saint-Martin and the headquarters of the Communist Party, La Sociable opened its doors with the aim of pleasing as many people as possible at low prices.
What does it look like in detail? La Sociable is both a bar and a restaurant, offering a range ofdishes to share from €5, pints of local draught beers from BapBap and Brasserie Barge from €5 to €7, and cocktails from €6 to €8. Enough to keep your finances happy, that's a big YES!
The founders of La Sociable combine this desire to eat well for a low price with an eco-responsible vision that puts the environment and people at the heart of their approach. All products are rigorously sourced locally, the decor is based on local finds and the staff is as diverse as it is varied. In short, it's all good!
The late summer/early autumn menu features Solilès figs, ricotta and walnuts, topped with a cucumber and black olive condiment, honey vinaigrette and whey garum (9€), a ham-mozzarella crostino (9€), a kind of fried croque-monsieur of the most indecent kind, or a vitello tonnato (13€) refreshed with a handful of thin, still-crisp zucchini and mimosa eggs.
And just because they're affordable doesn't mean they're cheap - on the contrary! They're even served generously (three were enough for two guests), and you can really treat yourself for 5€ (smashed potatoes), 6€ (a seasonal caponata) or even 7€ (a potato-crusted molet egg, pan-fried spinach, smoked scamorza sauce).
Understand: the least expensive plates are not the least exciting or the least elaborate, as is often the case in Parisian restaurants. And the same goes for desserts, like this brownie à l'assiette (€9) with a ladleful of mascarpone and Reine-Claude.
A lively and generous cuisine that doesn't take the customer for a fool. And to top it all off, enjoy a glass of natural wine selected by Soif, Pigalle's wine cellar!
Please note that the restaurant is only open for dinner, and on sunny days, we strongly advise you to arrive early: the huge terrace is simply packed!
