Le Drugstore on the Champs-Elysées caters for all tastes, from breakfast and a quick lunch to a gourmet snack, a finger-food aperitif after work, dinner or a movie. It's open from 8am to 1am.
And with good reason, 3 Michelin-starred chef Eric Frechon has taken on the role of chef consultant for "Le Drugstore" and designed a menu adapted to the location. The menu includes tartines, finger food and dishes featuring hot and cold ingredients.
For our lunch, we hesitated between the 25 dishes, all of which were tempting. We'd heard about the €21 cheeseburger, the sea bream carpaccio and the grilled lamb chops with harissa, all of which sounded tempting, so we grabbed some finger food to tide us over until we'd made our choice. It's simple, the tandoori corn tempura is a must-have in any restaurant, a 6€ delicacy ideal for lunch, dinner, the ppéro, better than popcorn, which goes divinely well with wine and the eggplant caviar delights us in summer!
Finally, we opted for breaded chicken with peanuts, corn flakes and Cajun sauce, andveal spider with capers, both presented as signature dishes.
The breaded chicken is really delicious, tender and melting as we like it, with a very pleasant Cajun sauce, a nice surprise. As for the veal spider, the meat is hidden under a mixed salad with tomatoes, capers and parmesan, promising a great taste experience!
Even though we've run out of room, we're intrigued by the Pavé Parisien dessert, which we must try. What we end up with is a cheesecake presented in trompe l'oeil, with its black pavé look, presented with black crumble, like pebbles.
So, loving the millefeuille, we had to try it; it was good, if a little lacking in freshness, and we knew we'd be back for the pink praline iles flottantes and the chocolate caramel and peanut tart.
It's already 2pm and the customers are still arriving in droves: we're totally sold on the non-stop lifestyle where you can eat at any time. Although the à la carte dishes are no longer available after 2.30pm, you can still find cheeseburger, croque-monsieur, beef tenderloin tartar, spinach and poached egg salads, and Caesar salad, just like in a hotel. Quite simply, for its designer, "Le Drugstore is a hotel without a room that lives from morning to night."
That's how "Le Drugstore" became a warm, comfortable place where businessmen, tourists, families out for a stroll or fashon victim would love to meet...
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
