Jacopo is the latest project from Alex Bril and Benjamin Artis, entrepreneurs and fans of the Golden Triangle, where they already own the Yeeels cocktail bar and Le Baron. Just a stone's throw from the Champs-Elysées and the chic Drugstore, Fouquet's and Miss Ko, Jacopo has become THE place to eat on the Champs-Elysées.
Jacopo has it all: it's open every day non-stop from 12pm to 2am, with simple, inexpensive cuisine by Top Chef Thibault Sombardier, and a stylish decor featuring blue velvet armchairs and gold-edged tables by NB Studio!
"An ultra-cool and affordable popote".
Eggs mayo (5€), lentil salad, snails (7.5€), leek vinaigrette (4.5€), terrine (6€), blanquette de veau (16.5€), beef cheek (17€) with fries for 3 e, veal quasi marengo (16€), supreme de volaille sauce grand-mère at €14.50, baba au rhum and Ile flottante à la praline rose at €6, Thibault Sombardier's menu for Jacopo hits the mark with its prices, especially in the neighborhood. The same goes for the wine list, with glasses between €5 and €7 and bottles between €25 and €85 (for a Hautes-Côtes de Beaune "Clos Perrière")!
This "back to basics" approach is really catching on, if we are to believe the local canteens like Jacopo that are springing up all over Paris. What about quality? Let's face it, it's not haute cuisine(Thibault Sombardier has his 1étoile restaurant -Antoine- with a lunch menu at 48€), but Jacopo 's dishes are good, the plates are copious and refined, and some revisits are very surprising.
A particular favorite is the egg - yes, the egg - worked in a variety of ways and served with a light-as-air mayo, and the floating island served in a bowl so that you can drink the custard (!). On the negative side, the waiters don't specify that the meats are served unaccompanied...
Jacopo's secret bar (and smoking room)
Tuesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., dare to lose yourself in Jacopo's basement. Behind the kitchens, a hidden Prohibition-style bar awaits you: leather sofas, wooden furniture, an open-access billiard table and even a smoking area make this the chill moment of the evening.
The bartenders make cocktails that are fun and not too busy: Cache-Cache with Rhum, homemade Velvet Falernum, homemade fireball and homemade ginger cordial, Rosemary with Grey Gosse Vodka, homemade rosemary syrup, lemon juice, cucumber, fever tree tonic Water, between €12 and €16. No inspiration? The bartenders work miracles: for 13€, they'll create a cocktail just for you!
Opinions on Jacopo
Jacopo is an ideal Parisian address: stylish decor, assertive cuisine and prices so low you'll forgive the long queues and slow service. Ideal for dinnertime, you can't expect to have lunch in 30 minutes!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
