The Château de Fontainebleau is taking part in the Journées du Patrimoine 2024, on September 21 and 22. We reveal the program for this magnificent Seine-et-Marne château.

Once again this year, the Château de Fontainebleau is opening its doors to the curious for a weekend, on the occasion of the Journées du Patrimoine 2024. Don't miss these lively days in the château and its grounds on September 21 and 22.

The 800-year-old château has seen a succession of the greatest kings, princes and dukes of France and Europe. The historic monument was a "family home"to the kings of France, in the same way as the Château de Rambouillet, the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye and the Château de Versailles.

The Château de Fontainebleau, which became an imperial palace after the French Revolution, was refurbished by Napoleon I, and features the only surviving Napoleonic throne room. It continued to be used by kings and emperors until the reign of Napoleon III and Eugénie!

Today, the Renaissance-style château and its grounds are popular with tourists, who come to admire the palace's 1,500 decorated and furnished rooms, as well as the various exhibitions on display. Events and celebrations throughout the year give visitors the chance to discover the palace in a whole new light.

In September, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) give us the opportunity to enjoy this exceptional monument and its treasures. Discover the activities and workshops planned for this weekend of free visits.
