Lumigny Safari Reserve, the largest wildlife reserve in the Paris region, in Lumigny (77)

Formerly known as the "Lumigny zoological parks", the largest wildlife reserve in the Île-de-France region became the Lumigny Safari Reserve on January 1, 2024. After its traditional winter closure, the site reopens its doors on February 1, 2024, for the warm weather. Children, parents, grandparents: come and spend a day in this 100-hectare zoological park!

The reserve is divided into two distinct zones: the Lumigny Safari Reserve and the Terre de Singes option. In all, there are more than 600 animals to discover on immersive safaris, where you can enter the enclosures of saïmiris (small monkeys), lemurs, parrots... You can also see the big cats on board the Trans'Félins train, which takes you around the Parc des Félins. A total of four walking tours allow you to discover this great reserve on foot, with access for baby carriages and people with reduced mobility. Lions, Siberian tigers, Sri Lankan panthers, ocelots, wildcats and lynx await you in their enclosures, so you can observe how these wild animals live at Lumigny Safari Reserve. Then, to discover numerous species of macaques, gibbons, geladas, saïmiris and other small monkeys, head for the Terre de Singes!

There's a mini-farm where children can cuddle goats and other domestic animals (cows, chickens, etc.) in an area specially designed for families. It's a privileged zone between you and the animals, accessible to all ages! For budding marmosets, Magoland, a play area set up in the heart of Monkey Land, also lets children have fun and move around like real little monkeys!

In 2024, the zoo will continue to offer its usual activities, with eco-guides specializing in ethology, on hand to help visitors with snacks and animal meals. At the Terre de Singes zoo, you can also attend daily tea parties for macaques and other primates. But the big news is certainly the opening in summer 2024 of the Kingdom of Lions, a hotel in the heart of the reserve, overlooking the enclosure of the kings of the savannah.

This year, a golden-headed lion tamarin monkey, a highly endangered species in the wild, will also arrive at the reserve as part of a protection program. On the pink side, two baby tigers should be arriving in the spring! Finally, a new footbridge will allow you to overlook the cheetah enclosure, as well as a new observatory above the Malayan tiger and Asian lion enclosures. On the catering front, Kilimanjaro - the zoological park's flagship restaurant - is offering a new menu, featuring homemade burgers made on site, for a gourmet lunch break during your visit.

Practical information

Lumigny's zoological parks are open from February 1 to November 30, from 10am to 5pm or 9:30am to 6pm (in April, May, June and September) and until 7pm (in July and August). Admission costs €26 per adult (over 11), €17 per child aged 3 to 10 for access to both parks (Parc des Félins and Terre de Singes, which is optional), and €22 per adult and €15 per child for Parc des Félins only. The parks are accessible to people with reduced mobility, who also benefit from a preferential rate on their entrance ticket (€3 reduction).

You can get there by car or by public transport, getting off at Marne la Vallée Chessy (RER A) or Melun (RER D and Transilien) and then taking a bus. More information on the zoological park website.
