The Monument Jeu d'Enfant event returns for another edition on October 19 and 20, 2024. Numerous national monuments are taking part in this fun and educational event in Paris, the Île-de-France region and throughout France, offering unusual activities for the whole family over a weekend of discovery.
In Paris, the Chapelle Expiatoire opens its doors to children and their parents this coming Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20, for a special weekend that gets both our neurons and our zygomatic muscles firing.
In the Chapelle Expiatoire and its garden, young and old alike can take part in a life-size game specially designed for the monument. Through the riddles and clues collected, all visitors can discover the history, architecture and famous figures that this monument is home to, in a fun way. Here's what awaits you:
The Chapelle expiatoire celebrates the memory of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. At Louis XVIII's request, architect Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine built aneo-classical monument between 1816 and 1826, with a strong Romantic dimension. It stands on a former cemetery where many of those guillotined during the Revolution, including Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, were buried.
A fun and instructive outing for the whole family! Don't delay!
