The Panthéon is taking part in the Monument jeu d'enfant weekend on October 19 and 20, 2024, and is offering families a lovely storytelling tour that should change the way we look at this place of commemoration of Great Men.

A central monument in Paris, the Panthéon is a necropolis dedicated to the great men of the French Republic. The crypt contains the tombs of Rousseau, Voltaire,Émile Zola, Jean Moulin, Louis Braille, René Cassin, Victor Schœlcher, Jean Monnet, Marie Curie and Simone Veil. In all, more than 80 people are buried in this monument.

This building, located in the Latin Quarter, should have housed the shrine of Saint Geneviève. However, during the French Revolution, it was given a new mission: to honor the great figures of French history.

To make this solemn place more accessible to children, the Panthéon is organizing some fun activities open to all, this weekend of October 19 and 20, 2024, on the occasion of the event Monument Jeu d'enfant.

This fun and educational event gives the very youngest visitors a chance to discover the national monuments of Paris and the Île-de-France region, through tours, workshops and shows adapted to young visitors. Please note that reservations are required for this family event.

By special dispensation, our two storytellers Ariane Pawin and Fred Pougeard were allowed to roam the Pantheon at night. And there, in the wee hours after midnight, the specter often waited for them. And he confided things to them; at least, that's what they told us... as they listened to the poet Victor Hugo: "Do you believe that the tomb, clothed in grass and night, is nothing but silence?" Combining excerpts from the poet's works, anecdotes from the writer's life and legends about the monument, this storytelling tour is designed for families and young audiences.
