CNRS celebrates science at the Exploradôme: explore sport through the lens of research

Published by Communiqué Sponsorisé · Published on October 4, 2023 at 01:40 p.m.
Workshops, experiments and demonstrations: immerse yourself in the fascinating world of sport and research with CNRS scientists at the Exploradôme on Saturday, October 14, 2023!

How do muscles adapt to different levels of effort? How high can you jump? How can you predict the outcome of a soccer match using mathematics?

As part of the Fête de la Science 2023, the CNRS is taking over theExploradôme, the museum of scientific and technical culture where it's forbidden not to touch, for an afternoon of workshops and encounters on the theme of "Sport & Science" on Saturday October 14 from 2pm to 6pm.

Through a wide range of formats - digital modeling, manipulations, encounters, demonstrations... - CNRS researchers invite you, through the prism ofengineering, biology, sociology, computer science or physics, to discover scientific advances and innovations in the world of sport.

Come and experiment, investigate and manipulate to learn about scientific reasoning and build your own knowledge!

On the program for this event:

Digital modeling workshop: control your bone-building cells

Explore the invisible world of bone cells through a digital modeling experiment! By guiding and observing the work of bone cells, you'll be able to design a virtual bone model on a microscopic scale, and discover the impact of sport, injury and care on bone structure.

Brico'Lab sportif: create a machine that jumps

Take up the challenge of the Olympics and create a machine that jumps farther or higher than the others! The key words: tinker, experiment alone or together, try, fail, try again, and above all, have fun. There are no wrong answers here, only solutions: yours. In this workshop, build your own solution and learn how to engineer and solve a real-life problem!

Mystery object: discover everyday objects and instruments in the laboratory

Put on your detective costume: scientists unveil their research, from tissue engineering to astrochemistry, and let you discover their everyday objects in the laboratory! CNRS researchers put your curiosity to the test: discover a selection of objects linked to their research and, through dialogue and manipulation, try to unravel the mystery of their laboratory work.

"Come and measure the height of your jump or race with light !

Based on interaction, the "Tour de science" workshops invite you to discover the many facets of sport, from the perspective of engineering, physics, computer science and biology. The choice is yours: watch a live scientific demonstration or take part in a hands-on exercise!

"Who are you? Meet the scientists at CNRS!

From the composition of Mars to nanomaterials, via the influence of sporting activity on health, CNRS scientists discuss their work with you! In a convivial atmosphere, come and exchange ideas with researchers from a wide range of disciplines, in a speed searching format and within a time limit. At the gong, change tables and meet another scientist!
