How fast is the wind? How do birds use the wind? What is an anemometer used for? This workshop will address these questions, starting with a reading of the album Le souffle du vent by one of our librarians, followed by the guided construction of an anemometer. Everyone will leave with new knowledge on the subject of wind, and their own tool for measuring wind speed.
Forum des Savoirs: L'Odyssée de l'AI
11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Conference on artificial intelligence for children over 10, presented by :
Alice WATTEL & Bertrand MENOUD, artificial intelligence engineers.
Why the Biodiversity Fresco?
To help people understand the issues and pressures surrounding biodiversity, based on the IPBES report, through a fun, collaborative, visual workshop accessible to all.
Saint-Maur-des-Fossés Observatory Science Village
The former observatory of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris opens its doors once again for the Fête de la Science. On Saturday October 12, 2024, starting at 1pm, come and share a time of discovery and exchange on scientific mediation with our partners.
You'll be able to take part in a range of science workshops, as well as hands-on experiments on environmental and energy issues. You and your family can also sign up to create a biodiversity fresco during the day, a fun way to take action in favor of biodiversity.
The aim of this activity is to propose a "treasure hunt" where, using a smartphone, you will have to find a lost owl with a location system on campus. The aim is to discover the principle of localization through a short game that will take place inside and outside the buildings.
Exhibition of photos and visuals illustrating science at the service of sport
The Efrei owl sets off on her round-the-world trip, but faces a number of difficulties. She's going to redouble her creativity to protect herself with the help of her environment or objects. She'll go in the water (to protect herself from predators), in a metal cage (to protect herself from storms) or in a polystyrene cage (to camouflage herself). The aim is to see if it's possible to locate our feathered companion in these different environments or objects.
6 stands focusing on badminton, horse riding, golf, swimming, rollerblading and water polo, to discover how connected objects and artificial intelligence help trainers monitor athletes' performance on a daily basis and make tactical choices.
In partnership with the Val-de-Marne archaeology department, Apera invites you to discover experimental archaeology at the Parc des Hautes-Bruyères.
On Saturday, we'll be building like in the Neolithic:
Come and take part in the first experimental session on building a Neolithic house, in collaboration with the Val-de-Marne archaeology department.
At the end of the day, still at the Parc des Hautes-Bruyères and hosted by the Archaeology Department, a round-table discussion on the challenges of mediation and experimentation in architectural reconstructions will round off a day rich in discoveries. Come and listen to mediators, researchers and restorers discuss the importance of architectural reconstructions in understanding ancient buildings, and share their experiences.
A festive Sunday for experimental archaeology:
To round things off in style, archaeologists, experimenters and craftsmen will welcome you to a dozen stands dedicated to experimental archaeology. Come and discover the treasures of archaeology, and take part in interactive and educational activities for the whole family. Dive into the history of techniques in a fun way.
Espace Sorano
Come and discover our mechanics, electronics, robotics and chemistry workshops in room R2, next to the cafeteria, at the Espace Sorano in Vincennes... Throughout the morning, volunteers from the Mon école des sciences association will be on hand to help you discover science in a fun way. An ocean of knowledge awaits you!
Put on your detective costume! CNRS scientists will put your curiosity to the test: discover a selection of objects linked to their research and, through dialogue and manipulation, try to unravel the mystery of their laboratory work.
On the program: Geology: discover the tools used to measure tectonic displacements and movements linked to volcanic activity. Humanities and social sciences: discover laboratory objects in sociology, geography and psychology. Astrochemistry: head for the Red Planet with the Exomars space mission! Astrophysics: discover the modules used to observe the ocean and discuss how they work.
Free admission. Several continuous sessions from 2pm to 6pm.
What does the ocean floor hide? What are the genetic characteristics of marine animals? How does the ocean interact with the atmosphere? How do coastal populations live?
As part of the Fête de la Science 2024, the CNRS is taking over the Exploradôme for an afternoon of workshops, scientific experiments, games and meetings with CNRS researchers on the theme of "Ocean of Knowledge".
Through a wide range of formats - workshops, manipulations, meetings, demonstrations... - CNRS scientists invite you, through the prism of geology, biology, sociology, geography, astrophysics or physics, to discover the universe and mysteries of the ocean.
Come and experiment, investigate and manipulate to learn about scientific reasoning, and build your own knowledge!
Come and meet researchers and mediators in a fun and friendly setting with the "word-of-mouth" workshop. Your mission is to listen and convey a scientific phrase as faithfully as possible. Are you up to the challenge?
Discover water-related issues, and more specifically water pollution, from a physical perspective.
Free admission (subject to availability).
In a friendly atmosphere, come and exchange ideas with scientists from a variety of disciplines in a speed searching format, within a set timeframe. At the gong, change tables and meet another researcher!
On the program: Marine biology: discover the major stages of animal evolution through the analysis of genetic networks. Astrochemistry: immerse yourself in the study of planetary organic matter. Human and social sciences: discuss how coastal cities are adapting to the risk of flooding, and discover the health, social and geographic mobility of coastal populations. Astrophysics: discuss astrophysics and the search for neutrinos in the ocean. Marine geology: discover the oceanic lithosphere and the processes that take place there.
Free admission (subject to availability). Several continuous sessions from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Come and take up the challenges of the Brico'lab workshop! The watchwords: tinker, experiment alone or collaborate, try, fail, try again, and above all, have fun. There are no wrong answers here, only solutions: yours.
In this workshop, build your own solution and learn how to engineer and solve a real-life problem!
Free admission (subject to availability).
Based on interaction, the "Tour de science" workshops take you on a multifaceted discovery of the ocean, from the perspective of engineering, physics, computer science and biology. The choice is yours: watch a live scientific demonstration or take part in a hands-on experience!
On the program: "The ring cloud": wait for the machine to fill up with white matter, press down on the top of the machine and see how clouds form. What shape does the cloud take when propelled? Does it stay the same size as it rises? "Tornado in a box": Do you know whether tornadoes form from the bottom up in nature? With "tornado in a box", you'll discover all the secrets of tornado formation. Try to predict its direction of rotation and how it interacts with the wind. Cycl'eau": Take a glass marble, representing a drop of water, and take it on a journey from the mountains to the sea. What does each element correspond to? What are water's natural paths? Are they linked to human activity? "A fog chamber": Watch a fog chamber being built to understand how discoveries are made in astrophysics and visualize cosmic particles. "Genetics of marine animals": This workshop invites you to immerse yourself in the genetics of marine animals and discover the origins of hemoglobins. Come and take part in fun experiments to get a glimpse of the links between humans and marine animals.
