The Fête de la Science is a major annual event that returns every autumn to the delight of children and adults alike. The aim of this national event is to shine the spotlight on different scientific disciplines, researchers and their discoveries. It's also an opportunity tolearn while having fun, to immerse yourself in the world of science and enjoy its curiosities and treasures.

All you have to do is take part in the many events organized by museums, schools, libraries, scientific sites and cultural venues, which are opening their doors to the curious from October 4 to 14, 2024. In Paris and the Ile-de-France region , dozens of institutions are planning a rich and varied program, to appeal to all audiences.

In the 14th arrondissement of Paris, the Musée de la Poste is also offering events for young and old, on October 4 and 11. This fun museum is dedicated to the history of the French post office and philately. Please note that some Fête de la Science events are only available with registration: check the terms and conditions of participation in advance of the event to make sure you don't miss out.

    Since ancient times, many unusual means of communication have been invented to ensure the confidentiality of messages. During this workshop, students will discover and experiment with different coding systems: wrapping a message around a scytale, making an Alberti dial, building a Chappe telegraph... secret messages will no longer hold any mystery for budding spies!

  • The cosmos gone mad!

    After a visit to the permanent collections of the Musée de La Poste, students meet in the workshop room to discover our Solar System through a selection of stamps: thanks to fun quizzes, they can place the stamps corresponding to the different planets of the Solar System on a map of the Universe. A fun way to discover the planets and their secrets, as well as the philatelic wealth of the cosmic theme!
