The Musée de la Poste, located in the Montparnasse district of Paris, is one of those museums where you could spend hours discovering how mail was delivered 100 years ago, what stamps looked like, or even the job of a letter carrier. An original visit to learn all about our French post office, unique in Paris!

The Musée de la Poste is the temple dedicated to thehistory of the French Post Office: from the evolution of our letterboxes to that of our stamps, via registered mail, parcel forms and other special letters... The museum sums up six centuries of postal history, from its creation in 1477. Discover this unusual, fun and interesting museum for all ages!

In this unusual museum in Paris, you'll discover a wide range of objects, including letterboxes and stamps, as well as the first telephones and banking products such as the Livret A passbook savings account: yes, all generations are represented here, and (grown-up) children can't fail to be fascinated by the transformation of society, which runs over 1,000 m² for the permanent exhibits.

The museum holds 450,000 items of great patrimonial interest, including 370,000 items from the archives of French postage stamp production since 1849, when the first French postage stamp was issued, as well as a large collection of contemporary art, developed by the corporate foundation since the 1990s, which now includes 5,000 works.

In addition to the collection, of which the museum is only a part, La Poste also offers permanent exhibitions, conferences and workshops, with an attractive program for young visitors.

The Musée de la Poste is closed on Tuesdays and open every other day of the week, from 11am to 6pm. Admission is €9 per person ( full price), €5 ( reduced price) and free for under-26s. Note that the guided tour of the permanent collections, offered every other Saturday, is included in the museum admission ticket. The Musée de la Poste is also free every first Sunday of the month!

To get to the Musée de la Poste, you can take metro lines 4, 6, 12 and 13 (Montparnasse exit), lines 10 and 13 (Duroc exit) or line 12 (Falguière exit). Numerous bus lines (28, 88, 89, 91, 92, 94, 95, 96) also serve the museum.
