The Maison Poincaré, the mathematics museum in Paris, is taking part in the Fête de la Science this October 12, 2024: for the occasion, the museum is opening its doors free of charge to all.

Math lessons are rarely appreciated by schoolchildren... Or their parents. Yet this scientific discipline can be fascinating, full of surprises and even fun! This is what the Maison Poincaré, the mathematics museum in Paris, aims to prove. With its educational trail, fun workshops and exhibitions, this unusual museum aims to reconcile the curious with mathematics, and help us discover the unsuspected secrets behind numbers and geometric figures.

So it's hardly surprising that the Maison Poincaré is taking part in the 2024 edition of the Fête de la Science. This family event highlights all scientific disciplines, innovation, researchers, their discoveries and technologies, through activities, games, tours and exhibitions designed for young audiences.

The next Fête de la Science takes place from October 4 to 14, 2024. As for the Maison Poincaré, it's opening its doors free of charge on October 12 for a day unlike any other at the museum. Here's the program for this not-to-be-missed autumn event in Paris.

The Fête de la Science program at the Maison Poincaré :

  • Poetic consultations
    October 12

Talk freely for 20 minutes with an artist to get a feel for what mathematics and theoretical physics can inspire. The "Poetic Consultation" starts with a simple face-to-face question: "How are you?" The principle is very simple: a discussion at the end of which the artist prescribes and performs a poem, music or dance, specially chosen for the person met. The poetic consultation ends each time with a prescription, based on the "Poetic Vidal of Mathematics and Theoretical Physics" created for this immobile artistic event and open to all.

For all ages 7 and up. We recommend that an adult accompanies younger children.
Created by Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota, director of Théâtre de la Ville.
"Vidal poétique des mathématiques et de la physique théorique" compiled by the Comité de culture mathématique of the Institut Henri Poincaré.
Event organized in partnership with the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris.
