Accident in Saint-Ouen: a bus collides with the façade of Thierry Marx's Bouillon du Coq

Late on Tuesday, an RATP bus crashed into the façade of Bouillon du Coq, the iconic Saint-Ouen restaurant launched in July 2024 by Michelin-starred chef Thierry Marx. Located in the heart of the town, on the corner of boulevard Jean-Jaurès and rue du Docteur-Bauer, the restaurant's frontage was damaged, but no one was seriously injured.

Chef Thierry Marx opened a large restaurant called Bouillon du Coq in Saint-Ouen this year. Located on a busy crossroads in the town, the restaurant saw its facade damaged on Tuesday evening, reports Le Parisien.

The Paris fire department reports that the accident caused only two minor injuries, qualified as "relative emergencies", with no need for hospital transport. According to witnesses, the bus driver tried to avoid a scooter, which caused a fishtail. The maneuver caused the vehicle to crash into one of the restaurant's windows, arousing the curiosity of local residents, who gathered to photograph the scene.

At the time of the incident, a Bouillon du Coq manager was quick to reassure us that there would be no major consequences: "More fear than harm". However, the facade will require major repairs, and a security perimeter has been set up with metal fencing until the damage is repaired.

Le Bouillon du Coq, an address now popular with local residents and employees thanks to its proximity to the new stop on line 14 of the Paris metro and its affordable prices, has been attracting regular customers since it opened. The restaurant has taken over from the iconic Coq de la Maison-Blanche, which closed in 2018, and offers affordable cuisine by Thierry Marx.

On the morning of Wednesday December 18, the bus was no longer present, but metal safety barriers were erected in front of the destroyed facade.

The accident occurred just a few days before the Christmas and New Year vacations , as the restaurant was preparing to celebrate New Year's Eve with a special €68 menu. Will the repair work jeopardize these festivities? Restaurant staff remain cautious as to the impact on the next few days of operations, a matter to be followed.
