If you never deny a tasty rougail, then, you will be happy to hear a new bistronomic Reunion-inspired restaurant has opened in Paris 10th arrondissement!
Running this new spot: Basil and Paul! Lulled by their family origins but resolutely rooted in Parisian bistronomy, the two friends are already running Jaja at Pré Saint-Germain, and are now inaugurating Boucan, paying tribute to their grandmother’s cuisine based on well-sourced and local ingredients.
“Cuisine bourgeoise but open. Bourgeoise because it is hearty, comforting, and without fuss; open because it makes the link between Reunion and the Mediterranean, two cuisines that have a lot in common”, the two friends claim, to present this new table.
Inside, seated on one of the 35 chairs, or on the terrace on sunny days, enjoy Reunion-inspired flavors, renewed weekly, such as the “civet de zourites” namely small chipirons stewed, that look like low-temperature cooked squids, served with thick red wine gravy, and lasary lemon potato instead of the usual rice side; or the olive duck typical from the Island, stuffed, brothed and filled with dumpling bathed in strong broth.
As for drinks, Boucan enjoys about twenty references of wines, natural wines from small producers; half a dozen French craft beers, some being exclusive, and a fine list of spirits!
