For the Journées du Patrimoine 2024, the town of Sucy-en-Brie is organizing a number of visits and meetings. A chance to discover the town in a different way, on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22.

The Fort de Sucy is a 19th-century military edifice with a fine history: built in 1879 to reinforce the protection of Paris after the siege of 1870, the fort has come down to us in perfect condition, with all its original features. The Fort is one of Sucy-en-Brie's landmarks, but it's not its only asset!

Castle, orangery, church, chapel, vineyards, beehives, art galleries: there are many treasures to be found in this small town in the Val-de-Marne region, south-east of Paris.

For the 41st Journées du Patrimoine, on September 21 and 22, 2024, treat yourself to a wonderful stroll through Sucy-en-Brie. The Val-de-Marne municipality boasts a rich history and a host of attractive sites, sure to delight young and old alike!

Several visits and activities are organized throughout the weekend, to help you discover and appreciate this town, whose history goes back to the Neolithic period. Take a look at the Heritage Days program, and save the date in your diary, so you don't miss a thing.

Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal chapel

  • Visit to the Church of Sainte-Jeanne de Chantal
    September 21 and 22

    This church, built in 1931 at the instigation of curé Weiss, is dedicated to Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal, in memory of Jeanne de Chantal, the late daughter of the Altmeyer couple who contributed financially to its construction.

  • Back in time at Sucy-en-brie

    The town of Sucy invites you to discover its historical and natural heritage in a fun way, using the free Baludik application (available on all download platforms). There are routes for children in adventurer mode, with games, or in expert mode, with quizzes. Self-guided tours for families and individuals.
    Follow Madame de la Guette as she takes you on a journey back in time to discover Sucy's major monuments. She invites you to follow her on an incredible adventure through the town's past. But beware, if you accept, many challenges await you along the way. Will you be able to unravel the mysteries of our heritage?

  • Guided tour of the Château

    After several months of closure for restoration, the town of Sucy is pleased to announce the reopening of the Château. Dive into the history of this beautiful estate on a guided tour, and enjoy a wealth of discoveries. You'll find out more about the architecture, the superb decor and the life of the inhabitants of this 17th-century residence, built in the time of Louis XIV. A must-see!



Château de Sucy Orangery

  • The Liberation: from the Normandy landings to Sucy
    September 21 and 22

    The town of Sucy has teamed up with the Société Historique et Archéologique de Sucy and a private collector to retrace the history of the Liberation, from the landing beaches to the liberation of the town on August 27, 1944. Following a chronological trail of period objects and equipment, this exhibition will take you on an immersive adventure through the history of Sucy and France. Extend the experience by boarding an American armored car or jeep on free rides between the Fort and the Orangerie between 2 and 6 pm. An unusual journey guaranteed!

    As part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, the town of Sucy is offering a unique and unusual experience: a ride in an armored car or jeep between the Orangerie and the Fort de Sucy. Immersion guaranteed!



Saint-Martin Church

  • Visit Saint-Martin Church
    September 21 and 22

    Discover Saint-Martin church, one of the oldest buildings in the commune. Its architecture, characterized by different styles (Romanesque and early Gothic, Briard style), has earned it partial listing on the Inventaire des Monuments Historiques.



Fort de Sucy

  • Oven-baked bread
    September 21 and 22

    The Fort's bread oven was hastily built at the entrance to the Fort in 1914. Now restored and in working order, the A la découverte du Fort association is keen to bring this vestige of yesteryear back to life, offering bread baked on site throughout the weekend. Not to be missed!

    The À la Découverte du Fort de Sucy association offers guided tours in period costume, all weekend long, to help you understand the history, architecture and functions of this military edifice.



  • Fernande Doudot, the heroine of Le Petit Chemin
    September 21 and 22

    On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the City of Sucy invites you to highlight the Liberation of Sucy.
    Produced by the "Veilleurs de Mémoire" (Memory Watchers), this exhibition tells the story of this Sucycian heroine killed by the Germans, just a few days before the Liberation of Sucy.



  • Discover the Mycologues du Fort
    September 21 and 22

    L'amicale des mycologues de Sucy presents a mini-exhibition of mushrooms picked in the Notre-Dame forest. Members of the association will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the different varieties of mushrooms or your own mushroom picking.



  • Choisir la Liberté

    Les Baladins du Val-de-Marne present an immersive, never-before-seen show, performed outdoors in the heart of the Fort.
    January 1942, in occupied France, the town of Sucy is trying to cope with the hardships brought on by a harsh winter. A family is about to go to sleep when a stranger appears and asks for hospitality for the night. What her hosts don't yet know is that her name is Marianne, and that she brings with her the hope of an entire people... Soon, within the home, darkness will give way to a fiery light that will soon light up Europe.

    Marie-Laetitia is passionate about wickerwork. She will show you the art of wicker weaving, and in particular how to make baskets and baskets.

    Sucy's beekeepers welcome you to the Fort to discover the hives installed on the heights of the building. On the program: visits to the hives, presentation of the equipment and discovery of bees and beekeeping through educational materials adapted to the youngest visitors.

    Elie Halévy had the Maison Blanche built in 1911 on the Haute-Maison estate belonging to his father, Ludovic Halévy, a 19th-century man of letters.
    Visit the library and enter the world of this 20th-century intellectual.



Cellars and wineries of the Confrérie des côteaux de Sucy - Wine gallery

  • Visit to the cellars and wineries of the Confrérie des Coteaux

    Join members of the Confrérie at the Fort de Sucy and discover the winemaking rooms, the cellar that traces the history of the different vintages of our wine, the press room and the "Galerie de Bacchus", where antique objects and tools linked to the work of vines and wine are on display.



Sucy-en-Brie vineyards

  • Vineyard tour

    Take a stroll along the south-western slopes of Sucy's vineyards, replanted in 1985 by the Confrérie des Coteaux de Sucy. They are a reminder that all the hillsides of Sucy were covered with vines from the beginning of the 9th century. Guided tour by members of the Confrérie des Coteaux de Sucy.
