Heritage Days 2024 at the Rueil-Malmaison local history museum
Exceptionally, the museum's curator will accompany you into the local history museum's basement storerooms to help you understand the challenges of conservation, storage constraints and the various jobs associated with the collections.
Come and discover the rich history of Rueil-Malmaison on a guided tour of the permanent collections of the local history museum, housed in the former town hall.
Each room is thematically arranged to display the works, objects and memorabilia that make up the memory of Rueil-Malmaison. In particular, you can admire Maurice Orange's majestic painting "Bonaparte en Egypte contemplant la momie d'un Roi" (Bonaparte in Egypt contemplating the mummy of a King) and an Egyptian mummy discovered by municipal workers during a bulky goods collection.
Water has always been an important element in Rueil's history, so much so that even the town's name derives from it. On a guided tour of the town center, the mediator from the local history museum will introduce you to the history of Rueil through the theme of water: whether as a source of main activity, for leisure or for public use, the spring water network has played an indispensable role in Rueil for centuries.

Europe's most revolutionary motorway tunnel in terms of safety celebrates its opening during the 41st edition of the European Heritage Days, inviting the general public to explore its innovations.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of this iconic construction during a dedicated day. A guided tour will offer an in-depth look at the design and construction methods employed in the Duplex A86, highlighting the innovative strategies used to navigate technical and ecological challenges.
The event will also be enhanced by an exhibition by artist Felipe Pantone, who fuses art and engineering in this unique space.
