When September rolls around in the Paris region, a particularly eagerly-awaited event draws attention to the treasures of Paris and the Ile-de-France region. The Journées du Patrimoine is a not-to-be-missed event that gives us the opportunity to discover monuments, museums, châteaux, major institutions and other surprising places through a rich program of special visits and events. This year, this XXL cultural event awaits us on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024, for its 41st edition. Don't miss it!
Are you looking for a program idea in Seine-et-Marne? The 77 département is full of nuggets that are being showcased as part of the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days). One example is the town of Thomery, located between the Seine and the Fontainebleau forest. Well-known for its wine-growing culture, this commune is taking us on a voyage of discovery of its monuments and history, with a number of visits and events scheduled for this weekend of the Journées du Patrimoine 2024.
Chemin des longs sillons
Did you know that in the garden of the former priory of Thomery, there was a grotto of Mary?
The parish team invites you to discover it and the garden, which until now has been overgrown by vegetation
Access is via the Chemin des Longs, which starts at 31 rue de la République.
Thomery circuit
Explore this village of character, famous for its Chasselas de Thomery grape, highly prized by the Court of the King of France, and its vineyard walls, listed as historic monuments!
Salomon Gardens
How about discovering Thomery at your own pace?
Two separate routes, each with its own heritage and/or anecdotal questions, will be available at the welcome point in church square.
One version for adults and one for children.
Collect your quizzes and bring your answers home for a free gift!
Lasting around 1h30, this tour will give you an overview and understanding of Chasselas production, which has occupied the village for over two centuries.
Visit the Jardins Salomon in Place Greffulhe, where vineyard walls are still trellised with grapes, as winegrowers once did.
Next, head for the Chemin des Longs Sillons, listed as a Historic Monument, to discover the network of walls that make the commune so distinctive, before entering one of Thomery's last fruit orchards, where the white gold was preserved.
This tour is led by volunteers from the Confrérie Saint-Vincent de Thomery.
Discover one of Thomery's last remaining fruit-growers (20-30 min).
This building, which doesn't look like much from the outside, was the site of the first experiment in cold preservation.
Today, you can still visit the grape chambers where the fruit was preserved using a revolutionary method!
Visits limited to a maximum of 12 people.
