While many tourists squat on Rue Crémieux to show off this famous colorful Parisian street on social networks, we've found you the capital's new Instagrammable spot!
The place to be is Village Royal, nestled in Paris's 8th arrondissement. It's here, in one of the hidden streets behind the Madeleine, that Patricia Cunha has set up her world-famous"Umbrella Sky Project".
Just imagine: 800 multicolored umbrellas suspended from cables above your head. That's what's in store for you this spring with this colorful ephemeral installation.
Behind this project is Patricia Cunha. Since 2011, this Portuguese artist has been sublimating neighborhoods around the world by installing umbrellas in a variety of colors: blue, yellow, orange... After Arles, Carcassonne, Toulouse and Béziers in France, as well as Tokyo, Seoul, Saint Petersburg and more recently Pensacola, it's now the turn of the French capital to welcome these mythical umbrellas, originally from the town of Águeda, south of Porto. It was here that a collective led by Patricia Cunha hung hundreds of colorful umbrellas for the very first time.
To admire these hundreds of colorful umbrellas, head to the Village Royal in Paris until mid-July 2019!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
