The coronavirus epidemic keeps on spreading in France and the entire country is on confinement since March 17th, 2020. In Paris, within the International University Campus set in the 14th arrondissement, over 4,000 students from all over the world has been placed on lockdown, far from their home.
All in all, they come from about a hundred different nations. Why did they stay? For different reasons: no repatriation organized by the country their come from, exorbitant plane ticket price, professional reasons or fear of contaminating their families.
So, how’s life getting organized on confinement within this gigantic campus? In common spaces like kitchen or the park, social distancing is a requirement: people work out on their own, take their meals far away from each other. According to information from Le Parisien, about twenty students are reportedly sick, eventually infected by coronavirus. Isolated, their meal trays are left at their doors.
It’s hard in such context to keep a student job to pay the rent. So, as for financial means, aid solutions are being studied. A psychological crisis cell in several langues is also being set up.
