The Paris Council will exceptionally meet this upcoming April 28 to debate and talk about the managing of the current health crisis.

For the first time since confinement has started, the Paris Council will meet exceptionally on Tuesday April 28 at the City Hall. Health measures and distancing measures being mandatory, this council that the opposition was asking for, for a few days, to debate about the health crisis managing will take place with the minimum number of members.

Next Tuesday will be present “the mayor and eleven representatives of the executive, all arrondissement mayors and all the group presidents, as well as Danielle Simonnet in light of the political awareness she representsfirst deputy mayor Emmanuel Grégoire says in a press conference on April 23.

On the agenda of the Paris Council – the first since February 3 – a minute’s silence in memory of all people who died of coronavirus, followed by a speech from all arrondissement mayors who will talk about the current situation.

Only one debate is planned about the extension of the powers of the executive planned by the government decrees on April 1st and especially about paying grants. “One of the issues we had is that any grand is subject to a vote or isn’t available. Decrees authorize mayors to pay associations. Associations need them because they face the same cash flow issues as companies and they sometimes saw their benefits decrease” the first deputy mayor says.

A collective wish is also being put up together by all political groups of the Paris Council in order to “tell our mobilization, our gratitude to agents and our support to Parisian in these difficult circumstances” Emmanuel Grégoire concludes.
