As some countries have decided to regulate the number of people in the private sphere, Jean Castex calls for everyone’s responsibility. This October 12, 2020, on Franceinfo, the Prime Minister asked French people to limit the number of people coming over to their houses.
“I cannot regulate private spheres (…] but there is someone who can regulate the private sphere: the master of the place” the Prime Minister said. “I ask to respect barrier gestures in the private space like in the public space” the government head said.
For the record, unlike France, other European countries have decided to limit the number of people in the private sphere. Therefore, in Great-Britain, it is limited to 6 people. In Madrid, Spain, family gatherings are limited to 10 people.
On LCI, layer in public law, European law and human rights Nicolas Hervieu said in France “the government has not had the sole power of regulating gatherings inside private houses. To do so, the law has to change, and the Constitution has to change. We see this is an unlikely perspective”.
In this interview held on October 12 on Franceinfo, the Prime Minister also said a new StopCovid app will be soon available, on October 22 to be exact.
