When and to whom will the 2024 Christmas bonus be paid? That's the question many French people are asking themselves, as the festive season approaches. We tell you all about this exceptional aid!

As the month of December draws nearer, and people are already starting to make their Christmas presents, some recipients of the Christmas Bonus are wondering when it will be paid out, and how much it will be in 2024! This exceptional lump-sum aid will be paid between on Friday December 13 and Monday December 16 to the most modest households to help them finance the festive season. Let's find out the amounts and conditions to benefit this year.

Every year, the Christmas bonus provides financial support to low-income households in the run-up to the festive season. This exceptional aid, confirmed by the government, should appear in recipients' bank accounts between December 14 and 16. Announced by the French Minister of Solidarity, Paul Christophe, the bonus is eagerly awaited by some 2.3 million French people.

The amounts, although unchanged from the previous year, are adapted to the composition of households. A single person will receive €152.45, while a couple or a single parent with children may receive higher amounts thanks to proportional increases. For example :

  • A single person with one child will receive €308.72.
  • A couple with two children will receive €320.15.
  • A single parent with three children will receive €452.78.

These increases take into account the number of dependent children, with specific additions for more than four children.

Who is eligible for the Christmas bonus?

This aid is available to recipients of the main minimum social benefits:

  • RSA (Revenu de Solidarité Active).
  • ASS (Allocation de Solidarité Spécifique).
  • AER (Allocation Equivalent Retraite).
  • The lump-sum bonus for resuming work.

For the RSA, the bonus is adjusted according to household size, while beneficiaries of France Travail (ex-Pôle emploi) receive a fixed amount of €152.45. Please note: only active recipients of these benefits in November or December 2024 are eligible.

What to check

Payment is automatic, but it is essential to ensure that your bank details and family situation are up to date with the CAF, MSA or France Travail. For France Travail beneficiaries, the application must be made if it has not yet been registered.

Valuable but stable help

Although tax-free, this Christmas bonus will remain unchanged in 2024, raising expectations of an increase. At the same time, some companies grant exceptional bonuses to their employees, but these are governed by internal agreements.

So, if you're one of these people and you're wondering how to get this exceptional Christmas bonus? You don't need to do a thing. As the public service website explains, the bonus is distributed automatically by the CAF, MSA or Pôle Emploi, depending on your situation!
