Throughout the year, theÉtablissement de Sang Français organizes blood drives across the country, as blood reserves have been particularly low in recent years. And yet, nothing is more important than giving blood, which can save up to 3 lives. This holiday season, Arkunir, which has made a name for itself on Twitter, has teamed up with the EFS to encourage the people of Ile-de-France to get out and give blood, from November 28 to December 1, 2024, in the heart ofParis City Hall.
Today, 10,000 donations are needed every day, including 1,700 in the Paris region, to treat patients waiting for a blood transfusion. To find out whether you are eligible to donate blood, plasma or platelets, don't forget to take the online test, so you don't have to go to the hospital for nothing. Among other things, you need to be between 18 and 70 years old, weigh more than 50kg, and be in good health.
For this exceptional event, 1,000 donations a day are expected, for a total of 4,000 people - enough to beat the European record! For four days, numerous slots will be open for booking until early evening, so that as many people as possible can attend. To ensure that reserves remain high, blood collection levels must remain regular, as blood products have a limited lifespan: 7 days for platelets, 42 days for red blood cells.
Donors are offered a snack on site after the procedure, which lasts between seven and ten minutes, but you should allow around an hour for the entire donation.
