As France records 88,600 deaths to Covid-19 since the health crisis broke out, the Elysée Palace is said to be thinking about calling a day in tribute to Coronavirus victims, France 3 TV channel explains.
As reported by France 3 Régions, Victimes du Covid-19 association chairman Lionel Petitpas has been given an answer to a letter sent months ago to the President.
“Mr. Emmanuel Macron has been particularly sensitive to the reasons motivating your action”, president’s cabinet chief of staff wrote. “I shall indicate thoughts are going on as for calling a day devoted to the memory of those taken by this scourge”, he assured.
Naming this letter a “favorable signal” to our peers from France 3, Petitpas added that “something is being set up. […] I need the President to receive us and make a quick decision. To be very honest, I do not think it will be made before the summer or even fall. But what matters is that it is being done, hoping that by then, the pace of daily deaths grows slower”, he added.
