Are trip conditions about to be strengthened between the United Kingdom and France? This March 24, Boris Johnson said France may soon go to the “red list” for travel restrictions because of the spread of Covid-19 variants.

Will it be soon impossible to go to the United Kingdom? Because of the spread of coronavirus variants and the very active circulation of the virus in France, the country might be added on the UK’s “red list” for travel restrictions in the coming days. This is what Boris Johnson stated this March 24 when interviewed by members of the Parliament on the matter.

The Prime Minister said the lead was being studied and strengthened controls for travelers coming from France was also a possibility. “We can’t rule out tougher measures and we will put them in if necessary”, the British head of government claimed.

If it was to happen, then travelers from France will no longer be able to cross the Channel, excluding in the event they are UK residents or Ireland residents. In this case, they will be allowed to join the English coast, but will have to self-isolate in a hotel at their own expense.

But Johnson fears consequences of this measure, especially in terms of trade exchanges between France and England.

For the record, 16 departments in France are currently subject to “massive curbing measures”. Three more may join them soon.
