Coronavirus: France well ahead in vaccination by late June, Jean Castex says

This Thursday April 1, 2021, the day after Emmanuel Macron’s address, Prime Minister Jean Castex is heard by the National Assembly. He says by the end of the 1st semester, France is to be well ahead of its vaccination campaign.

The third coronavirus epidemic wave is hitting France. Accelerated by the spread of variants, it is to peak around April 10, 2021. While waiting for life to get back to normal, all hopes are focused on the vaccination campaign which positive impacts have been already noticed in the oldest people, given priority for injections.

France’s stake is the acceleration of the vaccination campaign. The day after Emmanuel Macron’s address, this Thursday April 1, 2021, Prime Minister Jean Castex addressed the National Assembly. He announced that by mid-April, 10 million French would be vaccinated against Covid-19. According to predictions, 20 million would be by mid-May, and 30 million by mid-June.

As of December 17, 2020, Castex announced 15 million French would be vaccinated by the end of the first 2021 semester, namely late June. But, as shown by the latest vaccination data, the Prime Minister considers the country will be well ahead of its vaccination campaign. From now on, the challenge is to vaccinate about half of the French by the beginning of the summer 2021. For the record, some specialists consider at the same time that France is to achieve herd immunity by July 14.
