For eight years now, Paris City Hall has been counting down the number of homeless Parisians during the Nuit de la Solidarité (Night of Solidarity), orchestrated with the help of associations. Nearly 2,000 volunteers and social workers criss-cross the streets, RATPmetro stations , SNCF train stations, underground parking lots, the Bois de Boulogne and Vincennes woods, and the outskirts of the Paris ring road, to meet homeless people, count them and offer them support. This year's event will take place on January 23, 2025.
Every year, the Mairie de Paris has a shortage of volunteers to carry out this important mission, and is calling on Parisians who wish to do so. Registration is open to anyone over 18, until next January. The aim of the Nuit de la Solidarité is to gain a better understanding of the profiles and needs of the homeless, in order to adapt the capital's emergency and social services and accommodation requirements.
4277 people sleeping outdoors in Paris were counted in 2024, even more than the previous year, including 785 in the participating communes of the Greater Paris metropolis . As in recent years, many communes in Seine-Saint-Denis and Hauts-de-Seine are joining the event, in addition to the capital.
