Eiffel Tower: the Iron Lady lit up in Ukrainian colors this Thursday

The Eiffel Tower in blue and yellow, to reiterate France's support for the Ukrainians. This Thursday, August 24, 2023, the Iron Lady will be illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, to mark the country's independence day.

The Eiffel Tower will be flying the colors of Ukraine for the third time this Thursday, August 24, 2023. A message of support from the capital to the Ukrainian population in the face of the Russian invasion. The Iron Lady had already been decked out in yellow and blue for the first time at the start of the war, then a second time on the sad anniversary of the conflict. This time, the City of Paris is reiterating its commitment to solidarity with Ukraine, on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.

Ukrainian Independence Day was proclaimed on August 24, 1991. More than thirty years later, the country is once again fighting to retain its independence. This Thursday, August 24, 2023, Paris marks the occasion with two ceremonies attended by the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and the Ukrainian Ambassador to France, Vadym Omelchenko. The first, in the afternoon, inaugurates the Jardin de Kyiv - au Peuple Ukrainien, renaming what was formerly the Jardin des abords du Petit-Palais in the 8th arrondissement, a stone's throw from theAvenue des Champs-Elysées.

The second ceremony takes place in the evening, on the Parvis de l'Homme at 8.45pm. During this ceremony, the Eiffel Tower will once again be decked out in the colors of Ukraine.
