Come and write a few farewell words on the devoted book, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the diplomatic landmark’s courtyard. The Embassy specifies “waiting could be long” and recommends “to be equipped in the event of rain or cold”. And of course, they remind you “for safety reasons, luggage and big bags are not allowed within the building”.

And note there is a virtual book of condolences to send a message to the royal family at royal.uk/send-message-condolence.

Rest in peace, your Majesty…

Admission through the great gates of the consular building.
