The city of Paris assures that Parisians will be able to swim in the Seine after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Three swimming areas will be left as a legacy of the event, for dipping in the river.

For many years, the city of Paris has maintained that residents and tourists will soon be able to bathe in the Seine. A veritable urban legend since the presidency of Jacques Chirac, the introduction of such bathing is becoming increasingly realistic, however, as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approach. Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, has announced that three sites have been selected to enable bathing, in 2025. These are Bras Marie, Grenelle and Bercy. " The supervised pools will be marked out by buoys and a pontoon for access, with areas for changing, showering and stowing belongings on the quays," the mayor said in a press release.

But do Parisians really want to take a dip in the river that runs through the capital? Nothing is less certain, given its reputation! However, several sporting events will take place in the Seine during the Olympic Games, including marathon swimming, triathlon and parathriatlon. According to Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee, tests carried out this summer on water quality are"very, very, very encouraging". To date, the levels recorded already allow swimming, and the elected officials are confident that the sanitation will be even better during the Olympic Games. So, are you ready for a swim?
