In Paris, we are not used to seeing farm animals... It must be said that apart from the rats, pigeons or swans and ducks of our Parisian parks and gardens, the fauna is not the richest that one can find in France. We knew thehuge transhumance that marked the end of the 2022 edition of the Salon de l'Agriculture, with thousands of sheep that went down theChamps Elysees avenue last March: this time, it's happening on the side of the Villette, with a flock of sheep that chose this famous park where we already met, once upon a time, many cattle, sent later in the slaughterhouses of the place.
These strange furry Parisian tourists are none other than Sologne sheep, with 30 adult sheep and a dozen lambs: all of them, accompanied by shepherds and dogs who watch over the flock, will stop at La Villette, on Saturday, March 25, around 4 pm, before joining the meadows and greener spaces of Île-de-France.
To celebrate this long-awaited passage of the young and old alike, a day offree activities around sheep and wool is planned: demonstration of shearing animals, spinning and dyeing wool, making pompons (which the sheep will then wear!), stories... Then, the flock will leave at 4pm, at the south circle meadow, before wandering in the park, guided by the shepherd and his dogs.
