In addition to this major demonstration planned in Paris, should we also expect strikes and disruptions in several sectors? In the air, the airport air traffic controllers' unions have filed a strike notice for May 1, 2023. Also, on April 26, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) asked airlines to cancel 33% of their flights at Paris-Orly and 25% at Roissy airport. This notice concerns"the day of May 1, 2023" and"the nights before and after for agents working shifts," said the Union of Civil Aviation-CGT (Usac-CGT) in a letter.
Another strike could also disrupt the rail sector. The inter-union of the SNCF (CGT Cheminots, UNSA-Ferroviaire, SUD-Rail, CFDT Cheminots) calls on all rail employees to"make May Day a successful day of strikes and demonstrations throughout the country."The Government must listen to the anger and withdraw this pension reform," adds the railway workers' intersyndicale in a statement published on April 21.
" After 12 interprofessional and unitary days, after a reconductible strike started on March 7, after an adaptation of the modalities of strike to hold in the duration, after an April 20 which, thanks to the unitary call launched by the railway workers, allowed initiatives on the whole territory, it is now appropriate to hit hard by the strike and the demonstrations on May 1, while participating in all the actions which can be held until then and in particular on April 28 " writes for its part the CGT of the Railway Workers in a statement.
For the time being, it is not yet known whether trains will be cancelled or not. The traffic forecasts for Monday, May 1 should be revealed this weekend.
It is recalled that few disruptions were noted on the TGV last April 20 during the day of " railway anger ". On the other hand, traffic was disrupted on several RER and Transilien lines in the Île-de-France region.
