Tensions surrounding the price of the Navigo pass are far from over! In 2023, to the displeasure of Ile-de-France public transport users, it has already risen by 12%, to a price of almost 84 euros, instead of the previous 75 euros. A smaller increase than expected, which had managed to be contained, instead of the 100 euros initially planned. But this important milestone may well be passed next year, in 2024, the year of the Olympic Games in the capital.
An increase that would be particularly painful for the wallets of Parisians, already heavily impacted by inflation, and worried about the consequences of the Olympics for their daily commutes next summer. Jacques Baudrier, a PCF deputy mayor of Paris and member of the board of Île-de-France Mobilités, expressed his concern on Twitter about a new increase that could occur in 2024, following a government report that"proposes to provide almost no new funding to IDFM" . He accuses Emmanuel Macron and the government of leading to a 120-euro Navigo pass.

The French government has just published a report that is nothing short of a scathing indictment. It proposes almost no new funding for @IDFmobilites
The immediate consequence of such a decision would be a Pass Navigo in 2024 at 120 euros.
The Ile-de-France authority has been struggling for several years, unable to secure sustainable funding that would ensure better service for public transport users. Jacques Baudrier tells France 3 that he regrets the French government's refusal to increase the " versement mobilité", a tax paid by companies. But he also points to"Valérie Pécresse's great responsibility for this catastrophic situation", which"has caused the debt to explode".
A new tug-of-war is in the offing, as IDFM has threatened not to open the new Grand Paris Express linesnext year, necessary for the smooth running of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
