Today, you have to take the RER B to get toParis Charles de Gaulle airport, north of the capital. Not the most convenient option, since many Parisians use the RER on a daily basis, and delays often pile up, with the risk of missingyour flight! The CDG Express will link the Gare de l'Est to terminal 2 of the airport, in 20 minutes, for greater fluidity. Originally planned for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the line is scheduled to enter service in 2027.
In recent weeks, controversy has been building up around this private line, which has been accused of serving users of the RER B, since the latter is not scheduled to benefit from any improvements between now and then. Work on this busy rail route continues to impact users all year round, with the express line running on the same tracks as the RER. This route will also be subject to a charge, not included in the Navigo, according to current information, at 24 euros a ticket. "It's the train for the rich versus the working poor", said David Belliard, deputy mayor of Paris, on BFMTV.
If all goes according to plan, passengers will be able to find out thelatest news about their flight right from the Gare de l'Est station, on the platform and inside the train. Between 6 and 9 million passengers are expected to use the CDG Express, with a train every 15 minutes, every day from 5 a.m. to midnight. Without line 17 or the CDG Express, both of which have fallen behind schedule, RER B users will have to be patient once again!
