We've seen it on TV, and followed the adventures of up-and-coming talents such as Jenifer, Olivia Ruiz and Nolwenn. Today, the Star Academy château in Dammarie-lès-Lys, Seine-et-Marne, is about to write a new chapter in its history: it's up for sale.
Known to the general public as the flagship venue for Star Academy, the Château des Vives-Eaux has hosted many seasons of the cult TV show. Today, this monument to French popular culture, which became an Urbex site last Christmas , is up for auction.
To become the owner, however, you'll need to raise a pretty tidy sum. The judicial court of Melun has set the hammer price at 700,000 euros. The estate, covering 2,496.73 m² and a total surface area of 18 hectares, offers ..:
This château, built in the second half of the 18th century by Jacques Gondoin, has stood the test of time. After being damaged during the First World War, it was magnificently rebuilt in pink brick. Its assets include :
Jean-Michel Pontet, the current owner, purchased this jewel for 3.8 million euros in 2008. Prior to the return of the TF1 TV show in 2022, major renovations were undertaken.
However, a financial and legal dispute with Axa Banque has now led to this auction. The sale is scheduled for November 2, 2023 at 2pm, but a viewing will be organized for potential buyers on October 25.
Despite this announcement, Jean-Michel Pontet remains firm and disputes the sale, assuring us that neither will take place. In any case, the new season of Star Academy, scheduled for November 4 2023, should not be affected. The operating company, Prestige Location, has a 9-year lease, guaranteeing the show's continuity.
Inshort, the Star Academy château is on the market. Who will seize this unique opportunity and become the guardian of this place steeped in history? Only time will tell.
