The French capital is known the world over for its Eiffel Tower and its beautiful monuments, but also for a less glorious facet: therudeness of Parisians! A reputation that follows its inhabitants abroad, and which has some truth to it, according to this survey by Preply, a language and culture learning platform. But the great news is that Paris is not the rudest city in France, far surpassed by Lyon!
Also on the podium are Marseille and Nice, then only Paris and finally Lille. So Parisians aren't the rudest of French people after all, despite their closed faces in public transport, their lack of consideration for tourists and their propensity for not picking up after their dogs, not to mention their frequent swearing.
By contrast, Toulouse, Strasbourg and Rennes are considered the most polite cities, according to the 1,500 residents surveyed in France's 15 biggest cities. Clichés about Parisians are hard to dispel, as 68% of those surveyed felt that the capital lacked savoir-être!
