Autonomous trains and flying cabs during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games? A small glimpse of the future will unfold during the competition, thanks to Urbanloop, an eco-friendly mode of public transport designed to convey users in medium-density areas, such as Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, where the first rails are about to be laid on December 19, 2023. These small, 100% autonomous capsules, which operate at 50km/h and without batteries, enable passengers to travel without waiting at the platform, unlike the metro.
The first loop of this revolutionary transport system is due to be launched in time for the Olympic Games, covering just over 2 kilometers and starting with 10 capsules. Driverless, piloted by artificial intelligence, these little bubbles, which can hold one or two people, will be waiting on the platform to take you quickly to the Olympic sites in Yvelines. Two stations are planned on theIle de Loisirs, to serve a fan zone near the Vélodrome national. Accessible free of charge, these capsules are destined to be introduced in several French cities in the future.
