It's already been 6 years since Johnny Hallyday passed away. Since then, the artist's music and voice have continued to resonate in the heads of his fans and many others, and tributes to the "idol of youth" are as numerous as ever. As the year draws to a close, the City of Paris announces a new tribute to Johnny Hallyday. A commemorative plaque will soon be unveiled in the capital's 9th arrondissement, more precisely in front of the building where the artist grew up, located at N°13 rue de la Tour des Dames. We imagine that many of the artist's admirers will soon be on hand to discover this plaque in tribute to their idol.
This commemorative plaque is not the first tribute paid by the City of Paris to the artist who died on December 5, 2017. On September 14, 2021, the capital decided to give Johnny Hallyday 's name to the esplanade located on theAccor Arena forecourt, at the corner of rue de Bercy and boulevard de Bercy, in the 12th arrondissement. A symbolic place for the singer, who had played in this legendary concert hall more than 100 times!
On this Johnny Hallyday esplanade, fans can also discover a statue. Representing the singer's famous motorcycle, perched on a guitar neck, the work was created by visual artist Bertrand Lavier.
"Following on from this first tribute, the City of Paris wished to honor the memory of this native of the capital once again ", reads a press release published on December 15. The commemorative plaque will be unveiled on December 22, 2023, in the 9th arrondissement, at the same time as the major exhibition dedicated to the rocker opens at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
