Fans of Charles Aznavour will soon be able to bask in a garden named after the famous singer. Following a measure voted by the Paris Council on December 13, the City of Paris has announced the forthcoming inauguration of the Charles Aznavour Garden. The occasion for the capital to once again pay tribute to the illustrious singer, who died on October 1, 2018 at the age of 94.
In concrete terms, the current carré Ledoyen, located in the Champs-Élysées gardens, will be renamed in tribute to the legendary singer. Located at the foot of the world's most beautiful avenue, this green space is currently undergoing renovation. Announced for spring 2024, the reopening will be an opportunity not only to discover the renovated furniture and pathways, but also to rename the carré Ledoyen and inaugurate the Charles Aznavour garden. A fitting tribute to the artist who would have turned 100 in 2024.
A committed citizen and a great singer, Charles Aznavour was responsible for such legendary songs as " Je m'voyais déjà ", " Les Comédiens ", " For me, formidable ", " La Mamma ", " La Bohème ", " Emmenez-moi " and "Comme ils disent"... According to the foundation that bears his name, Charles Aznavour wrote 1,300 songs!
The City of Paris has already paid tribute to the artist by inaugurating a bust of the singer in 2021. It can be seen on the carrefour de l'Odéon, in the 6th arrondissement. On May 21, 2019, a commemorative plaque was unveiled by the Mayor of Paris at number 36 rue Monsieur le Prince, where the artist grew up.
A biopic on Charles Aznavour is also in preparation, with actor Tahar Rahim in the title role.
