In Paris, nothing surprises us anymore, except perhaps this strange nest at the end of a bridge on the banks of the Seine. Mirza Moric's"Oiseau de la Paix" (Bird of Peace), which took up residence on the Carrousel bridge a few weeks ago, is an imposing granite sculpture perched on a metal nest, facing the Louvre and offering us a unique artistic perspective on the Seine. It embodies hope and peace, themes dear to its creator, Bosnian-Herzegovinian sculptor Mirza Moric.
Visible until February 7, 2024, "L'Oiseau de la Paix" is more than just a work of art; it's a genuine message addressed to the city and its visitors. A QR code at the foot of the sculpture provides access to a fascinating documentary on the history of this artistic creation. Mirza Moric, whose works have traveled from Bosnia-Herzegovina to Paris, unveils his latest inspiration: a tribute to the victims of world conflicts, particularly the Ukrainians.
Conceived at the beginning of 2022, this work has been crafted with passion and determination. The choice of white Sidobre granite symbolizes strength and resilience in the face of hardship. The faces sculpted on the bird's wings represent women, children and philosophers, all bearing a message of peace.
Mirza Moric, born in 1954, is a renowned artist who has made his home in Paris since 1977. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo and prestigious schools in Munich and Paris, he developed a unique artistic style, blending authenticity and modernism. Marble, stone, granite and bronze are the preferred materials of this artist, whose works have been acclaimed throughout Europe, as well as in Los Angeles and Tokyo.
Beyond its aesthetic majesty, this artistic monument is a reflection on the universal themes of peace and hope. Its presence on the Carrousel bridge enriches the cultural landscape of Paris and offers passers-by an artistic interlude.
Contemplating"L'Oiseau de la Paix" invites us to meditate on human resilience and the importance of peace in our world. Mirza Moric 's work is not only an artistic meeting point, it is also a symbol of hope and inspiration for all.
