New problems for the SNCF following the sabotage on TGV lines on Friday July 26, but this time thunderstorms were the cause. This Wednesday, July 31, 2024, SNCF interrupted traffic on part of the South-East high-speed line following the violent thunderstorms of the previous day. This Thursday, August 1 , it has announced that traffic will resume and return to normal.
Vacation departures were delayed for thousands of people on Wednesday July 31, as the SNCF advised travelers not to even come to the station. Trains were cancelled, and the work required to get the line back up and running only allowed traffic to resume on Thursday August 1. The previous day's thunderstorm had caused a tree to fall onto the tracks in the Yonne region, and a TGV had collided with it. Apart from material damage, fortunately there were no injuries.
Did you have a ticket, and failed to cancel or exchange it in time for your train yesterday?
Don't worry, SNCF assures you that all tickets for today's journeys will be exchangeable and refundable. The SNCF should soon be able to tell you more about how to get your money back.
The SNCF is therefore announcing a return to normal and a resumption of traffic this Thursday, August 1, which should reassure many travelers planning to go on vacation at the beginning of August, and for those who were arriving in the capital to attend the Paris 2024 Olympic Games events!
